Dedication of Ziprkowski Auditorium

AJ and Ruth Freiman of Ottawa, Varda and Bentzie Farhi of Ramat Hasharon, and Dr. Micha Ziprkowski of New York this week dedicated the MSR Ziprkowski Auditorium at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel. The auditorium is named after the late Prof. Leo Ziprkowski, former head of Sheba's Dermatology Department and his wife Ilse.

The Israel Center for Medical Simulation (known by its Hebrew acronym MeSeR, or MSR) is a world leader in simulation-based medical education and has become a global role model for simulation centers around the world - including the Mayo Clinic in the U.S. and McGill University in Montreal. The center trains healthcare professionals through hands-on practice in simulated medical environments in a wide variety of over sixty courses. The training emphasizes essential patient safety aspects such as teamwork and communication skills, through extreme and challenging medical conditions. It also trains IDF personnel for battleground and mass trauma scenarios, including emergency preparedness and chemical and biological warfare.

MSR founder and Sheba deputy director Dr. Amitai Ziv was the 2007 recipient of the 2007 Charles Bronfman Humanitarian Award.

The MSR Ziprkowski Auditorium will be used for large-scale simulation based medical training. It will also serve the general educational needs of the Sheba Medical Center.
